What we do
Solar, storage and charging, start to finish
Renewing Energy installs rooftop and ground solar, home and commercial batteries, EV chargers and the electrical work behind them. We also repair and maintain systems, including ones another company built, and handle the permits, Pepco paperwork and SREC registration that DC solar depends on.
Most of our work is inside the District, on rowhouse flat roofs, pitched roofs and historic blocks, with jobs in nearby Maryland and Northern Virginia as well.

Who writes our guides
The guides on this site are written by Truman Rountree, our solar and storage guides editor. He writes from the questions our crews answer on DC roofs, and every figure in a guide links to the source it came from.
The guides are general information about solar in the District, not quotes or tax advice. For your own house, a site visit is where the real numbers come from.
What we will and will not tell you
We will tell you when a roof needs replacing before panels go on, when shade makes solar a poor fit, and when a battery will not pay for itself. We would rather lose a sale than install a system that disappoints.
We will not quote prices before seeing the roof, and we will not promise certificate income: SREC prices move, and every estimate we give is a planning range.
Day or night
